Lake Brickmont City & Rural Fire Protection District
The Lake Brickmont City and Rural Fire Protection District was formed in 1907. Many citizens of the town saw the need for fire protection, and brought the concern to the city council. They agreed with the citizens and the Lake Brickmont Volunteer Fire Department was formed. The first pieces of apparatus were an 1850s hand pumper and 1864 hose cart. These two pieces are currently privately owned by an area resident.
Currently the fire district covers an area of 49 square miles, and 3400 residents. During the summer months, that number can reach up to 7000. The fire district provides the city of Lake Brickmont and the rural area surrounding with fire suppression, prevention, advanced water rescue, vehicle extrication, emergency medical services, and search and rescue.
